Introduction

TEC stands for Telecommunication Engineering Center. TEC facilitates the development and enforcement of various standards and policies by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, for the safe and efficient use of emerging telecommunications technologies.

TEC had issued requirements for the telecom equipment quality controls. These specifications may be categorized as GRs, Interface Requirements (IRs), and Service Requirements (SR).

TEC is responsible for granting specific licenses, such as Interface Approvals, Approval Certificates, Service Approvals & Type Approvals.

The Indian Telegraph (Amendment) Rules, 2017, provides that every telecom equipment must undergo mandatory testing and certification prior to sale, import of use in India. Under these regulations, the final comprehensive protocol for Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) was notified separately. The testing shall be carried out by Indian Accredited Laboratories designated by TEC and based on their test reports, certificates shall be issued by TEC for compliance with the Essential Requirements for the equipment.

Procedure to apply for Mandatory Testing and Certification for Telecom Equipments

  1. Pre-registration of Application
  2. Testing of equipment from Labs designated by TEC
  3. Submission of application in TEC online and offline both

 

Basic Documents required for certification:

  1. Company’s detail (registration certificate/ MOA)
  2. B/R for appointing authorized signatory
  3. Authorized signatory detail
  4. Foreign OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer): Foreign company appoint Indian company to act as the representative for MTCTE certification process
  5. Manufacturer: all legal documents of the manufacturing company
  6. Test report from Indian labs designated by TEC
  7. Brand and trademark detail
