WHAT IS E-SANCHIT?

  • To promote and support international trade and enable paperless transactions, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC), which was established on July 20, 2017, announced e-Sanchit (e-Storage and Computerised Handling of Indirect Tax Papers).
  • It is available to the nation's exporters and importers.
  • This programme provides taxpayers with a simple, automated manner to provide the customs department officers with the necessary paperwork for their import and export transactions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • To access e-Sanchit capabilities, the user must complete the necessary requirements. Through E-SANCHIT, a crucial part of SWIFT, traders can submit all the paperwork required for their shipment clearance online.
  • They can also attach their digital signatures at this point.
  • It is no longer required to physically deliver hard copies of required documents as the entire consignment clearance process is now anonymous and paperless SWIFT is a SingleWindow Interface for Facilitating Trade.

REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR ICEGATE

  • To file shipping invoices and related export paperwork, you must be registered with ICEGATE and have a valid ID.
  • The ICEGATE portal was introduced by the Customs department, simplifying and streamlining the registration process.
  • There are two sorts of users who can access the ICEGATE portal. Internal users and members of the commercial community, such as Participating Government Agencies (PGAs)

SIGNING UP AS EXTERNAL USERS

The users listed below are those who are regarded as External Users:

  • Operator of an Authorised Terminal
  • Bank Offices
  • Vehicle Agent
  • Client Agent
  • Broker in Customs (CHA)
  • Custodian
  • Vendor E-Seal
  • Freight Broker
  • (Importer/Exporter) IEC Holder
  • International migrant
  • Ministry/Government Organizations/Regulatory Bodies

These users have the option to sign up for an individual or organisational account on ICEGATE.

1. Creating an Individual User Account

  • To create an account on the ICEGATE site, Individual Users will employ this functionality
  • If a parent user is creating an organisation for the first time, they should choose the 'Organisation option and Individual users must input their Full Name as it appears on their PAN Card in the FULL Name text box when registering.

2. Creating an Organisation User Account

  • When registering as an Organisation User, the User must input the Organisation Name exactly as it appears on their PAN Card in the &'Organisation' text field.
  • When registering as an Organisation User, the User must input the Organisation Name exactly as it appears on their PAN Card in the Organisation; text field.

CONCLUSION

The implementation of e-SANCHIT aims to promote paperless transactions and document uploading to ease cross-border trade.

This service is offered by the CBIC to PGA members as well as exporters and importers. Helping importers and exporters cross
customs is the PGA's responsibility. By using this service, one can expeditiously clear important paperwork without having to wait in queue at Government offices.
